November 18 2014, Getting close!!

This morning was an important doctors appointment. Dennis & I went to the fertility clinic at 7:30am, we arrived at 7:20 and already there was a line up of 22 women (& partners) ahead of us. We were called in for my bloodwork appointment around 8:30am and had my ultrasound appointment shortly thereafter. I saw a new doctor this morning, Doctor Wong, he was very friendly, quick and personable.
He found 8 mature follicles on my left side and 4 mature follicles on my right. Dr Wong indicated that the eggs are currently about 1.6 cm on my left side and approximately 1.5 on my right side. There are currently 12 mature follicles that they can count on, plus smaller follicles as well, they will drain all embryos during the egg retrieval so there may be more. The follicles grow around .2 cm/ day, and they like the follicles to be 1.8-2cm, so egg retrieval will be happening soon.
Tomorrow morning (day 10) I have an appointment at 9:45am at the clinic for an ultrasound only (no bloodwork); depending on the size of the follicles I may take the HCG trigger shot tomorrow, and be back to the clinic on Friday for the egg retrieval.
Tonight I will take my injections again x 2. Dennis & I have gone through all of our antibiotics, so for now it's just the Superfact 3 x / day (nasal spray which keeps me from ovulating on my own), folic acid, baby asprin, & 2 injections daily.
I'm excited, nervous & scared. Not all of the eggs that are retrieved will survive and not all of the eggs that survive will be fertilized; and not all of the fertilized embryos will implant or survive, so there are a lot of variables at play.
Tomorrow is a big day, stay tuned!

Timeline summarized:
November 19 Ultrasound & potentially HCG Trigger shot to release ovulation\
November 20 Egg Retrieval
Nov 23-25 Plus 3-5 days for Embryos to develop in lab
Dec 11 Pregnancy test...

  1. Hi Brandi! Thanks for sharing your journey. It's most informative. I don't know what words to say other than good luck! I always thought you were an amazing woman from way back when you lived in Dawson and provided respite to me and took such wonderful care of my boys. You will be an amazing mother!
