November 19 Ultrasound update

Today I went into the clinic for my last ultrasound of this IVF cycle. I have good news to share! Follicles are growing appropriately and as expected at .2, follicles are now approximately 1.7 on average. Dr Green would like for the follicles to have another day to mature. I will take my HCG trigger shot (pregnancy hormone) tomorrow. Dr Green was so kind and compassionate this morning, he lovingly rubbed my foot, and wished me luck! I really appreciate the sentiment as it can feel routine and medical.

This evening I will take my injections for the last time, tomorrow I will take 2 doses of my nasal spray as well as folic acid & baby aspirin daily (until the pregnancy test). Between 11am-12pm tomorrow, I will receive a call from the clinic indicating what time to take the HCG trigger shot. The HCG needs to be injected in 2 separate doses 36 hours prior to egg retrieval; so depending on the time that I am scheduled for the egg retrieval on Saturday will determine when I take the HCG shots (approximately 8pm-11pm Thursday evening- sorry Alli, we may need to reschedule our movie date).

Tonight we have another scheduled "make love night", which will be the last opportunity for 3 weeks! We cant have sex again until after the pregnancy test. Sorry if this is TMI! Bahaha!

Saturday morning I will go in for the egg retrieval, the time is yet to be determined but will be in the morning. I cant eat after midnight on Friday evening, and they recommend for me to be well rested and have given me a valum to help me sleep, I think Ill be ok; I sleep so well every night! I cant drive for 24 hours after the procedure. It's convenient for Dennis & I that I have the egg retrieval on Saturday, so we don't have to take as much time off work. Dennis needs to spend the day with me, as I will be a bit dopey. I will be under conscious sedation for the procedure. During the egg retrieval Dennis will go downstairs at clinic, to provide a "sample", and thereafter will come back to join me in recovery. I will need to remain at the clinic for at least one hour after the procedure. It is apparently uncomfortable but not painful, given the fact that I will be sedated.

The nurse left the room this morning to mix my HCG trigger shot for me, meanwhile I was able to snap these pictures from my chart! FOIP!

As you can see below, I have 8, plus 4 good sized follicles on my right side, plus 5 + 4 good sized follicles on my left. They like to see approximately 12, so Im doing very well, with 21! Woop Woop!

Here's my schedule (although incomplete right now) & information for the next few days!

I had to fill this out- not very exciting.
