December 31st, 7 weeks pregnant; a wonderful end to a difficult year

As we bring in the new year we are filled with excitement, optimism and love as expecting new parents. The past year has been challenging, exciting and stressful as we dealt with 3 unsuccessful IUI attempts, and anticipated and prepared for IVF (emotionally, and financially). I am so grateful that IVF was successful.  Today I am 7 weeks, and 4 days pregnant. Our baby is apparently about the size of a blueberry, .51 inches.
So far, I am still feeling healthy and well. I have infrequent bouts of nausea (2 or 3 times in the past week); I have not vomited, yet. My energy is good, although I am more tired in the evenings and go to bed a bit earlier than my typically early bed time anyways. I have also been slightly lightheaded and dizzy at times, but again, infrequently.
My most uncomfortable symptom yet has been constipation; which is worse because of the progesterone supplements that I take vaginally 6x/ day (and likely, too many for my body as my ovaries are over stimulated). I researched online and many pregnant women, especially those who are taking progesterone supplements have problems with constipation. The progesterone slows down the colon contractions. I will continue taking the progesterone, folic acid, and estrogen until at least January 18th. My insatiable hunger has decreased due to feeling very full and bunged up.  Ugh.
I am so grateful  to be pregnant, I am not complaining whatsoever about these symptoms (or lack there of), just sharing.
My bras and pants still fit although some of my jeans are getting a little tight and uncomfortable, as you can see, there isnt much change in my belly this week (ever so slight).
Regarding follow up medical care, I received two emails today indicating that we are now on the waitlist for all of the midwifery clinics in Calgary. I don't understand how that happens because I completed inake applocations as soon as we found out we were pregnant which is much sooner than most people find out. Sigh.  As well, I had a referral in with my family doctor for an OB/GYN, Dr. Lejour; I called yesterday to follow up on a referral and the office indicated that they hadn't received the referral! I cannot stress enough how much you need to be your own advocate in the medical world. I phoned my doctors office and asked them to re-submit the referral.
Given everything we have been through, and the type of holistic care that midwives provide I would much prefer for us to go that route.  I hope that an opening comes available with a midwife team.  I am hopeful!

We came to Quesnel after Christmas, on December 28th to be with my family, we will head back to Calgary on January 2nd or 3rd. It has been so nice and comforting to be with my family; they are so excited for our pregnancy and will be pillars in this babies foundation, and life. Today my mom and I are going to enjoy pedicures together, thanks to Kylie & Cam; and go for a lunch date. Daddy Dennis is off skiing with a buddy today. We will ring in the  new year with friends later this evening, but I will head back home early with my favorite little people, Chase & Jersey for an early bed and a good nights rest for a ski day tomorrow followed by Leeson's open house tomorrow evening.

I am overjoyed to enter into 2015, pregnant!

Thank you for sharing in our journey! Happy New Year!
